The use of hallucinogens in pursuit of a spiritual revelation is not a unique practice. From Peyote to LSD, people of different cultures have experimented with drug-induced visions in hopes of a glimpse beyond the known world. But what of those non-volunteers who have been subjected to hallucinations through no choice of their own? Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever, or San Joaquin Valley Fever) is a fungal disease found in the soil of the southwest and carried on the desert wind. As a girl growing up in Arizona, Wendy Padilla, was exposed to Valley Fever. Her hallucinations had a reoccurring theme – Bears. As an adult these supposed hallucinations were interpreted by a Native American shaman as visions, influencing Wendy’s life and her writing. VALLEY FEVER, Wendy Padilla’s first novel, explores the spiritual journey of several fictional characters in the year 1885 and 1990. Their lives are intertwined and their destiny revealed through a whirlwind of time travel.

Tribal Soul Travelers

ISBN - 9780557719549

Amanda was no longer alone with her memories as an abducted child taken by Golthlay to the stronghold … a place deep within the Sierra Madres during the late 1800s. There were others now, fellow travelers, those who have also journeyed, via an illness, an induced hallucination such as Valley Fever, or a spontaneous regression like the Apache brothers, Naiche and Tahza. They are the travelers who belong to a new tribe of souls, a tribe beyond race and tradition, a people who discover their spiritual path and find solace on Pa-Gotzin-Kay re-born. These are the awakened ones who now recognize each other’s spirit and whose purpose it is to resolve karmic debt. TRIBAL SOUL TRAVELERS, second novel in the Valley Fever series, is the story of those souls and their shaman, Bill Martinez, who shepherds them on their journey.

Pa-Gotzin-Kay

Pa-Gotzin-Kay The Stronghold is the place within — our sacred place — that refuses to harbor contradictions The saga of those who remember continues … Fellow travelers must now contend with a hostile world, one that pits the government against the individual. Seeking their own answers, the brave women of Pa-Gotzin-Kay valiantly protect the Arizona ranch and their community of friends, while their men follow the shaman Bill Martinez on a heroic pilgrimage into Mexico’s Sierra Madres to the original Pa-Gotzin-Kay stronghold. It is here on the border of two countries that they discover the purpose of remembering – the life lessons of karma each carried forward from the eighteenth century. More than fiction, Pa-Gotzin-Kay is a hand-book for survival, a thoughtful, yet exciting adventure reflecting our times; a novel wide in scope and haunting in its vision.
